A Firearm Does Not Automatically Defeat a Police Misconduct Case
Police misconduct cases are often complicated by allegations that the injured person committed an offense, possessed a weapon, or failed to obey police commands. Those allegations do not automatically determine whether the officers used lawful force.

What the officers knew when force was used;
Whether the client presented an immediate threat;
The type and degree of force used;

Police body-camera footage and other recordings;

Whether the officers’ reports are consistent with the objective evidence.
